Poetry Sunday: Dear Sky

Dear Sky

Dear Sky:

I bask under your brilliance,

I sigh as you lighten through the hours.

I relax as you color my end of day,

And I contemplate beneath your moon and stars.

Your colors emerge and delight;

They renew my soul and sing to me.

Yes, Dear Sky you are my muse,

My life giving breath, and I honor you.

Another epistolary poem, in the series I am writing, from a letter I wrote in April of 2016.  This poem was written on a morning of brilliance as the sun rose.  I hope to post one of these a month.  I will be taking time off for the rest of December….enjoy your holidays and I will see you around the New Year.

I am joining in with Poets United for their weekly poetry link up for poets who blog.

    I like the way you address the sky as though it were a living being. I feel as though it should respond to your appreciation, and somehow I think that it does.

      I felt I needed to address it as a living being….and I think too it does respond, doesn’t it.

    Such a lovely tribute to that protector of all. Our sky is gray today, perhaps cooking up snow… but I honor it, anyway, for we all need our cycle of moods.

    • December 3, 2017

      I love that idea of the sky having a cycle of moods!
