Poetry Sunday-A Smile

smile3

A Smile

A smile stretches,

And cracks open my heart.

Letting a soft, warm light

Illuminate the fringes of my world.

Spreading from head to fingertips to toes.

This glowing feeling,

Happiness, emanating back

to the corners of my upturned lips.

Stretching further,

And exposing my burning core

set ablaze with delight and peace.

This poem popped into my head as I was flying to Colorado for my niece’s wedding.  The warm feeling that a smile can bring, and how easily it can change your attitude.

I have been known to cry at weddings, but all I could do here was smile a broad smile! It was wonderful Sherry. I have a poem coming up about it in a few weeks.

  11. January 17, 2016

Nothing is more beautiful than to present a smile as a gift and as a gift to receive it, it doesn’t cost anything, but its value is priceless, it can mean so much love … but probably today not everybody think about it … and it’s truly a pity !
Thank you for these lovely verses of yours, darling Donna, I hope that your niece’s wedding was very joyous and filled dwith so many smiles !

Have a most beautiful Sunday evening, my beautiful friend,

Dany the wedding was a joyous event as our family was gathered together….we are scattered and separated by thousands of miles but not for that day! I agree, we forget that a smile is the perfect gift to give and so easy too! Sending you big smiles an hugs my friend!

  14. January 17, 2016

I just so adore those first two lines. What a wonderful motto that would make on one’s front door, or hung in the kitchen, or painted onto a piece of slate or a brick and placed where all and ones self could always see. This brought sun to my day!

And your beautiful words have made me smile…thank you!

  15. January 17, 2016

loved the smiles and the poem!
a smile brightens our days and hearts. 🙂

  29. January 18, 2016

I love the sense of progression in this piece – sometimes you almost have to relearn how to smile – not just on your face but inside..perhaps a physical shift – like a journey is needed to raise the spirits and mood..all those things that can hold you down temporarily suspended 🙂 tried to insert a photo but failed..

    • January 18, 2016
